HJC Sports’ latest urban helmet, gives urban commuters and riders a stylish, safe helmet with an integrated LED rear light.

Cycling helmet use has been shown to reduce head injuries, yet many in urban environments do not wear them. Why? The lack of style, and high cost of helmets puts people off.

The ROUTE helmet from HJC, brings style and an integrated red light to the urban helmet market. A ‘grab and go’ product, it is robust, stylish and at a price which not reflect its look or quality.

Additionally this is a very lightweight helmet, weighing just 300g in size Medium – making it a ‘take everywhere’ item.

In creating this helmet HJC was targeting every day riders who use their bikes to travel across town, to work, socially or to go shopping. It is a helmet designed to be grabbed and used when riding on a cycle hire scheme, for example. When designing this, we took a closed helmet, and added two forward facing vents, and one at the rear noting that distances covered are likely to be relatively low. The rechargeable LED rear light adds safety, and means that users do not need to remember multiple items.
